Michael & Mabel Akotia are based at City of Grace Church in Ho, Ghana. Michael oversees the work of ChristCentral in West Africa and is also part of the ChristCentral apostolic team. Michael and his team oversee 11 churches in Ghana and 10 churches in Benin. They are also exploring links with churches in other nations.

City of Grace are very much a base for our work into the region and host our School of Leadership training course there.

Michael and his team have been working with Compassion for a number of years, creating strong links with the Compassion national team, as they seek to bring relief to children who are living in poverty in their region.

In recent months this has developed to the point that the church and Compassion are keen to set up a partnership centre in Ho.

We know that local churches are often best suited to address the needs of the local poor because churches are already located in and involved in the community. The aim of resourcing a Child Development Centre, is to create a stable, nurturing environment where children experience God's love and acceptance in tangible ways. The local church can also effectively deliver Jesus-based teaching and whole-life care that children in poverty deserve. Finally the stability of a local church helps to create a sustainable, long term, project base which brings the safety and security all children need.

The team in Ghana are in the final stages of the build process, which had been running smoothly until mid-February 2022, when war broke out in Ukraine. This has had a knock-on effect, increasing costs for materials as well as causing increased inflation in Ghana, as we have experienced worldwide. Because of these additional costs, there is now a shortfall of £25,000.

The building fund will support the final two stages of the build:

  • £15k to complete the roof
  • £10k to complete and finish the building

This project has already raised £27k from Ghanaian churches, ChristCentral and churches in other nations who have caught the vision for this project already.

How can you get involved?

Can you and your church contribute to the remaining finances needed to get this project finished? Please prayerfully consider taking this call as something we as ChristCentral commit to together. That we would see a large school emerge and over the years, see lives changed and compassion declared in Jesus' name.

If you have any questions, please contact info@christcentralchurches.org. Thank you.
