Steve Tibbert

Deb and I [Steve Tibbert] have just returned from a fantastic week at the Newfrontiers Global 2017 conference, our annual gathering of apostolic leaders from around the world. For the last few years this has been held in Turkey but on this occasion we met on the other side of the Aegean Sea, in Athens, Greece. Newfrontiers has emerged from its transition from our founding father Terry Virgo to a band of brothers leading their own families of churches but joined together as Newfrontiers for mutual support, encouragement and accountability.

It was great to see friends who had flown in from far and wide, from the Americas, Asia, Europe and Africa. We worshipped, prayed and learned together. Hearing news of hundreds of church plants across the world and of new nations opening up to our fellowship was such an encouragement. In his key note message to us, David Devenish spoke out of Paul’s letters to Timothy and exhorted us to continue pressing forward with our apostolic extension.

A highlight of the conference was welcoming in Simon and Caroline Holley, based in the UK, and Joseph and Lily Mwila from Zambia. It is always good to see the family growing!

As we broke bread together in our final session on Thursday we sang the beautiful hymn When I survey the Wondrous Cross. It was a deeply moving time and as tears rolled down my face the words of the final verse resonated deeply with me:

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were an offering far too small;
Love so amazing so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.
– Isaac Watts

As the conference closed it was fitting to focus our hearts and minds on Jesus, on the sacrifice he made for each of us and the victory he has won. This is what motivates and inspires us all! It is a huge privilege to walk this journey with this growing family of apostolic leaders – what a great place to worship, learn and encounter God.
