In Memory of Donna Merry

We received such sad news from our ChristCentral churches family in Mexico -  Donna & Pete Merry have been such good friends to churches in Mexico and across many African nations. We grieve the loss of Donna and pray for Pete’s full recovery, for the peace of God for him & their family.  At the time of writing Pete Merry is in hospital and is stable but has suffered a small brain bleed injury.

Peter Merry, Jr writes:
My Mom & Dad had a bad car accident in Monterrey, Mexico on Saturday and my Mother, Donna Merry, did not survive the crash. My Father, Pete Merry, is in a local government hospital and is stable but suffered a small brain bleed injury. Audrae & I are here with him and are already being assisted by literal angels without wings from their home church in León, GTO, Mexico.

The following is a beautiful obituary written by my younger brother, Jesse Merry. Please feel free to share this post far and wide with those that knew her and loved her.

In Memory Of Donna Merry - 1947-2022
It is with deep sorrow and boundless hope in the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, that we announce the passing of Donna Merry.

Donna Rae Merry was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She went home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2022 at the age of 75.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Peter Charles Merry, Sr. and by her son, Peter Charles Merry, Jr. and his fiancé, Audrae Mayo and by her son, Jesse Floyd Merry and his wife, Ramara Merry and their two sons, Russell Floyd Merry and James Bryan Merry. She is also survived by her sister, Judith Myler and her husband, Bud Myler.

Donna was born to Floyd and Cleo Brown on April 1, 1947 in Seattle, Washington. She graduated from Federal Way High School in 1965. After high school, she attended Bible School at Bethel Temple in Seattle, WA where she met the love of her life, Peter Merry. Donna and Peter were married on July 21, 1967.

Donna was known for her passion for cooking and for her servant’s heart. One of her famous dishes was Manicotti which her sons continue to make for their families and friends.

In 1990, Peter and Donna followed God’s leading to be missionaries in Mexico until 1992. After they both retired, they once again followed God’s leading and returned to Mexico in 2008. Donna was a huge blessing to everyone she met.

She loved her family and her friends dearly. One of her favourite activities to do was to take her family and dear friends out to breakfast. Her sons would get up early in hope of going out to breakfast with her. Her breakfast tradition continued wherever she was and has been passed on to her sons.

Donna truly loved God with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. She often would be heard saying that God is alive and well and on His throne. When facing challenges, she would ask, "Who's still in charge?" She never stopped reaffirming her faith in Christ and encouraging and inspiring others faith as a direct result.

She had no fear about being a missionary in Mexico or going on three mission trips to Africa because she knew that her life was in God’s hands.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate Donna’s life. Peter and Jesse will let you know the details about that when the time comes. But right now, their focus is on getting their dad healthy and whole. We covet your prayers at this time.
