Christ Central Telford

Below Giles updates us about Telford Christian Fellowship's name change:

On Sunday 24th March we officially launched ourselves as Christ Central Telford, the culmination of a 16-month journey of faith. It was an amazingly positive day for everyone. Yes, there was the lovely looking new signage, online presence and nice gifts for everyone featuring the new logo. Also, there were many first-time visitors, all interested in coming back! But moreover, God’s presence was very evident in the worship time, with a significant prophetic word given for our way forward. The strong sense of unity and faith for going forward together, was very precious!

We definitely sensed God bringing us into a new identity and era - and not just re-naming us. God has given us this new name, which certainly defines what we are, not just what we are called.

We had been “Telford Christian Fellowship” since approximately 2000. Through the years leading the church, I was definitely not of a mind to change the name, even though I knew “Christian Fellowship” as a church name possibly had the feel of a past generation of churches. Typically, my attitude was, “TCF is perfectly good! ‘Fellowship’ is a Bible word (Acts 2:42). Let’s just keep persevering in faith”. Unexpectedly, however, God spoke to me in Autumn 2020 with the new name. I ignored it! But in Autumn 2022, when we knew we had to invest in a new website, God spoke to me again about re-naming the church. All my fellow leaders and the rest of the church were very positive, following which much work was done to relaunch ourselves as Christ Central Telford.

We’ve taken a major step of faith. But we know, prophetically, we want to take the next step(s) of faith with our new name and identity being the springboard.
