Chemnitz Prayer Weekend - Review

Chemnitz PrayerWeekend!

Where to start?
When we first arrived in Chemnitz a little over a year ago, we knew that prayer needed to be the foundation of the church plant. So this year, for the second time, we invited friends and supporters to a prayer weekend. We were really encouraged that 46 people joined us - half of them travelling for hours from other parts of Germany, Switzerland and the UK.

We ate together, got to know one another, prayer-walked through the city, worshipped in our Sunday venue as well as outdoors in a city-centre park, got creative with the kids and generally listened to God’s voice.

One of our highlights was seeing many people from our church plant bringing their own gifting and perspective to the weekend, and getting really stuck in - cooking, organising and leading us in times of prayer and worship.

There were lots of prophetic pictures and words, for example an encouragement to keep going, faithfully, in God's calling.

So what next?
At the moment, we’re working out a good rhythm for church life - regular Sunday morning gatherings and weekly small groups in different settings. We’re also trying to involve others as much as possible in planning, preparing and doing things, e.g. leading worship, kids-work, designing a website, praying, set-up, outreach and cooking.

Sometimes it feels like things are going oh so slowly, at other times we can hardly keep up. But when we look back, we see God is at work. He is changing lives, building his church and blessing this city, one small step at a time.
