UK Update Chris Frost shared some updates and prayer points for the UK during our most recent Leaders Online gathering:
"Yesterday we had the joy of celebrating 200 yrs of the St Mark's building which is the home of Gateway Leeds. It was consecrated in 1826 as part of the Waterloo Churches initiative where the government of the day pledged over £100 million (in today's money) to build churches across the nation."
We were reminded of the wonderful Christian heritage we enjoy in htis nation and asked for people to pray that we would once again be known as and actually be a Christian nation. There have recently been encouraging reports of what has been termed a 'quiet revival' where church attendance has gone from 8% to around 12% in the UK. Although other reports now suggest that these findings are slightly misleading. Even so, what is interesting is that there is a sense of God doing something in our nation at the moment and that people are coming to faith in many different ways.
Chris also highlighted the recent prophetic word from Ginny about Elijah and the story of King Ahab. There is a sense that rain is coming and that there is a cloud on the horizon; we believe htat God is doing something in our nation in this season. So let's pray for more rain, let's pray that God enlarges this 'cloud' and that many people would come to faith in Him.
Looking back at the story of St Marks, over the course of it's 200 year histroy there have been times when it's attendance was over 800 people - so let's pray that this would be something which happens in our nation again, that there would be many, many large churches in the nation and amongst us as a family of churches.
ChristCentral in the UK represents 45 churches spread across 5 regions, South, Midlands, North West, North East & Cumbria - that we would see a great harvest amongst us in the UK.
So in summary let's pray:
Thanksgiving for Christian Heritage: Giving thanks for the heritage that we have in the UK and the impact of this that is still being felt, but let's also pray that the UK would be truly known as a Christian nation.
The "Coming Rain": Prayer into the prophetic word of the "cloud on the horizon," and ask God to pour out His Spirit and enlarge the work He is doing across the country.
A "Quiet Revival": Pray that the reports of increased church attendance would become a sustained reality, with many more people coming to faith in diverse ways.
Large-Scale Growth: Prayer for a return to full, thriving churches - specifically praying that many churches would see the kind of significant growth experienced in generations past.
National Harvest: Pray for the 45 ChristCentral churches across the five UK regions (South, Midlands, North West, North East, and Cumbria), asking for a great harvest of new believers in every local community.
