From Ashes to Foundations:- Zambia Church Rebuild Hits Critical Midpoint
KITWE, ZAMBIA – Dayspring Kitwe have reached a major milestone in their rebuild project. Following the devastating fire in July 2025, the church has officially completed the foundation block for Phase One of its new facility, causing great excitement as it’s the first sign of a move toward a permanent, multi-purpose home for the church.
The ambitious project, carrying a total budget of ~£440,000, has seen a wonderful response from our ChristCentral and wider Newfrontiers family. To date, over half of the necessary funds have been raised through the contributions from individuals, partner churches and local businesses.

"I am standing on the foundation of Phase One," shares Joseph Mwila, "We have spent two months securing this base, and the focus now shifts to the building work allowing a move for the church out of the rain and into a solid, operational multi-purpose hall."

Beyond Brick and Mortar
The rebuild is not merely about a sanctuary; it is a vital hub for community transformation. The facility serves as the primary hall for, a school providing education and support to over 300 orphans. Additionally, the base hosts the School of Leadership, which equips leaders from across the region, from nations including Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, and the DRC.

Economic Hurdles Ahead
Despite the momentum, the project faces a unique economic challenge. The Zambian Kwacha has gained 15% in value against the British Pound in recent weeks. While a strong currency is generally positive, it has effectively reduced the project’s purchasing power by 15%. The project team are now seeking support for the final £200,000 to stay ahead of exchange fluctuations and ensure construction continues through the Easter season.

As the main structure begins to rise from the Ashes, Dayspring continues to be a beacon of hope, proving that we are more together and that beauty really can rise from the ashes.

Prayer points:
• Pray for the swift completion of Phase One (the multi-purpose hall) to get the congregation out of tents and into a permanent, weather-proof structure
• Pray that this ‘solid base’ provides the stability needed for the church to thrive after the disruption of the fire.
• Give thanks for the funds already raised (over half of the £440,000 goal) and the response from individuals, churches, and businesses
• Thank God for the unity within our family of churches and our wider Newfrontiers teams
• Pray for the remaining £200,000 needed to complete the entire project
• Specifically pray for the construction phase beginning at Easter, that the remaining funds arrive in time to keep the momentum going
• Pray for the orphans (over 300 children) who rely on the hall for their school activities, that their education and support would be strengthened by this new space.
• School of Leadership – pray for the resumption of the leadership training at the Kitwe base so they can continue equipping leaders
• That this building serves as more than just ‘brick and mortar’ but as a hub for community work and orphan care
• Pray for our apostolic reach into Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, and the DRC, that this base would be a launching pad for sending teams and raising global leaders
• Pray regarding the 15% gain in local currency, which has reduced the purchasing power of the British pounds received
• Pray for "speed in building" to counteract exchange losses - essentially that the work moves faster than the currency fluctuates
• Pray for the stabilization of the local currency so the project budget remains viable without needing to raise significant additional funds.
