Who is John Groves?
John is based in Winchester, Hampshire where he lives with his lovely wife Marian, they are part of Hope Church Winchester. John led the church for 7 years from 2002 after they moved from Hastings. They have three grown up children and 10 grandchildren.

John studied History and English at university and this is where his first desire for preaching and teaching the gospel was birthed. Following his time at university John when on to be a teacher for 10yrs and this proved valuable preparation for future church leadership. Although his call to church leadership wasn't felt early on in his life it increasingly became the natural next step to take. 

John has been serving in a full time capacity for over 30 years, this time although not without challenge has been what John describes as a joy & privilege. He continues to serve many local churches both in the UK and internationally, increasingly among the Commission family of churches (part of Newfrontiers). 

John recently reached the milestone (his word) of his 65th birthday! Approaching this new phase of life & ministry caused not only some reflection & through receiving a number of prophetic words two encouragements stood out really clearly to John:
1. the concept of 'legacy'
2. the call to write things down (to pass on his own knowledge to a future generation)

That is why he recently set up a new website to give an arena to sharing more widely his leadership experiences to the next generation. 

John says in one of his early blogs:

"I’m excited to have a new way of communicating with a wider circle of friends. I have the privilege of mentoring some of our younger leaders in the Commission family of churches. For a long time I have wanted to serve the next generation through short articles to pass on valuable insights and some of the material I have developed over 40 years in church leadership.

It will be great to also have a way I can inform people of my current activities in serving the churches at home and abroad. You can find out where I will be over the next three months on my calendar."
